Τhe University Museum and Teaching Collection of the University of the Peloponnese consists primarily of casts of representative works of Greek art – sculpture, metalwork, terracottas, and pottery – dating from Prehistory to the Byzantine period. The Collection also includes Roman, Late Roman, Byzantine, Medieval, and Modern pottery fragments, provided by the Archaeological Ephorates of Messenia and Corinth. Both the casts and the pottery are used for teaching purposes in the Prehistoric, Classical, and Byzantine Archaeology courses. Finally, the Collection is enriched by 12 papyri fragments dating from the 1st c. B.C. to the 2nd c. A.D., donated by the Emeritus Professor of the Ionian University Dr. Basil G. Mandilaras.
The University Museum and Teaching Collection supports instruction in theoretical and practical aspects of cultural resources management, and welcomes visits from schools, groups and individuals.
