C.Nadia Seremetakis, Professor
Professor C. Nadia Seremetakis is a cultural anthropologist, author of many books written in both Greek and English, including poetry, and of numerous articles some of which are translated in other languages. They are widely taught and cited in the Humanities, Cultural Studies, Performance Studies, Literary Criticism, Visual Studies and Women’s Studies.
She has conducted long term field researches in urban and rural Greece and comparative researches in various areas of the world.
She has received fellowships and scholarly honors in both Greece and USA, and she has responded to numerous invitations for open lectures by universities in Europe and USA.
Her interdisciplinary academic work has been complemented by the designing and organization of interdisciplinary, multimedia, participatory public events in Greece and abroad.
Born in Athens and raised between Athens and the Southern Peloponnese, she studied in New York where she lived for more than two decades and taught in well known universities. She is presently Professor of Cultural Anthropology at the University of the Peloponnese.
